Professor John Jerrim joins ImpactEd Group as Research Director

John Jerrim, leading education statistician and Professor at UCL Institute of Education, has joined ImpactEd Group in a brand-new role of Research Director. The appointment comes as our Group, which provides consultancy, evaluation and fundraising support to schools and education organisations, seeks to open-up more of our data and insights for sector benefit.

Professor John Jerrim, who has already published academic research based on ImpactEd Group’s employee engagement dataset from TEP, has joined the Group on a part-time basis, alongside his academic commitments.  Prof Jerrim is well known for his work on teacher engagement, the economics of education, access to higher education, intergenerational mobility, cross-national comparisons and educational inequalities. He has worked extensively with the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) data.

Working across ImpactEd Group's practices and TEP, Prof Jerrim will unlock insights from existing data sets, shape and guide new research projects, advise on psychometrics and survey design and provide high level counsel to ImpactEd Group’s partners

Speaking about his appointment Professor John Jerrim said:

“If we want to support education leaders to achieve the greatest impact, it is essential that they are equipped with the best evidence and insights to underpin decision making.

“ImpactEd Group has already curated some of the largest fixed datasets on our schools and education landscape in England, which are growing by the day.

“To be able to build research from that data, shape future studies and share insights with the sector is hugely exciting and I am delighted to be leading this work.”

Speaking about his appointment ImpactEd Group Director Jonny Boddington said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Professor John Jerrim to ImpactEd Group, as we embark on an ambitious new strategy to support more education partners to become consistently impactful and organisationally sustainable.

“Alongside the pragmatic evaluation and consultancy support we provide for partners on the ground, we recognise the significant potential in the larger data sets we are building.

“John’s appointment will help us to unlock valuable insights in our data for system benefit and shape an active research strategy for ImpactEd Group.”
